The written evidence of Mary Ann Godfrey Defriez Baker having written the words to "Master the Temptest is Raging" is printed in her story from the GEORGE JARVIS & JOSEPH GEORGE DEFRIEZ GENEALOGY--PUBLISHED IN 1957 BY MARGARET J. OVERSON. My grandmother, Grace JARVIS, gave me a copy in 1966.

I've heard that there has been differences on who wrote the words--Somehow it just doesn't set right when my great-great
grandma, Mary Ann Godfrey Defriez Baker said otherwise!

I'am a Defriez, My Father was one of the twin of Ebenezer & Sarah,& yes Mary Ann did write the song Master the Tempest is Raging. She was a great Lady. I'v know about this song all my life & how Mary Ann wrote it ,It's to bad she is not given more credit for it,more people kead to know that she wrote it .even the L D S church dos'nt know who wrote it .
