Jeremiah Hatch Murray, son of John Murray and Sarah Bates was born July 11, 1844 in Lucerne Township, Monroe Countyy, Michigan.
John Murray came from Scotland in 1831 with the British Army, during the Canadian Border trouble. He soon left the British and joined the Americans. Sarah Bates came from Ireland, year not known. While the family was livin in Monroe County, Michigan, Jeremiah Hatch, a Patriarch, came o their home as a Mormon missionary and converted John and Sarah to the Church. When their son was eleven days old, they were baptized, the baby blessed and named, Jeremiah Hatch Murray.
