At the time your brother passed away I don't believe that children were issued social security numbers. Today they are issued at birth, but I don't believe they were at that time.

I'm working on my great-grandfather's Civil War record and found that in one of his letters home he mentioned "Bill Yerance" as being on the same boat with him. That was the gunboat "Silver Cloud". Great-grandpa was from Dexter, MI, too. He moved to Kansas after the Civil War but, interestingly, he was visiting back home in MI when he died in 1920. This year is the 150th anniversary of LDS Pioneer Elizabeth Russell Archibald's immigration to Utah.

Many people in Utah and Idaho are descended from Thomas and Elizabeth (Russell) Archibald. Thomas Archibald died in Scotland but Elizabeth Russell Archibald came to Wellsville with several of her children. Some went to Idaho and some went to Canada.

A family reunion for all descendants of Elizabeth Russell Archibald is being planned for Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 at the Wellsville, Utah bowery by cousin Brandon Sundeen. He is planning games for the younger children, sharing of family history info for the adults, followed by a memorial service at the Wellsville Cemetery. Food is POT LUCK. Bring your own lunch and all will share what they bring.

If you have any family heirlooms, photos, letters, etc.. pertaining to Elizabeth Russell Archibald or her immediate family, please bring them for viewing.

ANTIOCH, Calif. - Floyd R. Hitchcock, 72, 5016 Belle Drive
Antioch and a longtime Provo resident, died Thursday in an
Antioch hospital of a heart condition.
A native of Weir , City, Kan., Mr. Hitchcock attended schools in Kansas and Colorado. He came to Utah in 1923 and
worked for U.S. Steel's Ironton Plant. He retired in 1960
as a foreman.
Mr. Hitchcock was a member of the woodmen of the World in Provo and was a member of the Catholic Church, attending the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pitsburg, Calif.
Survivors include his widow, Mary B. Hitchcock, Antioch;
two sons and one daughter Mrs. Frances Orud, Burbank

Laura Rosena McPhail was my grandmother.She married Jacob Hatfield 1892. He was born in 1859 and died 1939 in Springville Utah. His father was John Hatfield, born 1818 and died 1896. He married Eliza Beard, born 1836, died 1870. John's father was a Jacob Hatfield, born 1779, died 1858, and he married Elizabeth Street, born 1788 and died 1857. I hope this helps. I would like some information about my grandmother Laura Rosena McPhail. It seem to me that she had a young daughter when she came to Utah. Do you have any information on that or which ship she came over on. I would love to have that information. She had 14 children and my mother was one of them, being the youngest girl. I just came across your answer to my post.

I have not worked on this line in quite a while.
Marie was my mom's 1st cousin and they were always very close.

My mom has passed away and I know that Carl and Marie are now both gone. I would like to get the geneology up to date for Carl and Marie.

I have not seen Jill and Jennie since they were very young and they probably don't remember me.

Lesley, We've already talked about the bio on facebook. Jim is my brother and owns the membership to Ancestry.com that I access. Wayne Worthen is a cousin related to James William Sorensen's oldest brother, Andrew, and tracked me down about two years into my research and editing of JWS's bio from a photocopy. I have Wayne's original manuscript and am in regular touch with him. Wayne is also related to us through Carl Olson's first wife, Maria(our Olson line descends through Carl Olson's third wife, Anna Ekelof). Anyway, the bio is in the last stages and should be complete early next year. I will be in touch with you through facebook when the book is done. I am still looking for any photos your mom may have to use for the cover art, but time is running out. - Kathy Forgie
