I found three newspaper articles on the death/suicide/burial of Mary Dixon.
Reading further into the first article, it states that Mary was previously married and had two children at the St. Anne's orphanage.

"Cut up his hat, then suddenly took poison"
In a fit of Emotional Insanity an Ogden Woman Suddenly Ends Her Life.
Mrs. Mary Dixon, wife of Samuel Dixon, committed suicide at the Imperial rooming-house tonight She took carbolic acid. The landlady entered the room and found Mrs. Dixon writhing in pain, and called-Dr. Baker, but she was beyond medical aid.
With her husband, she returned from Delamar, Nevada Tuesday. The only reason that could be given for the woman's act was that she was a victim of peevishness. Mr. Dixon stated that when he started down the street she seized his hat and cut it into shreds with a pair of scissors, thinking to detain him. He opened one of the trunks however and secured his other hat, and was across the street when he learned of his wife's suicide.
Mrs Mary Dixon was formerly Miss Mary Canfleld, and has been twice married. By her first husband she had two children, both born in St. Ann's orphanage. Salt Lake City. She has a mother, and sister residing at Paris, Nevada and was well known is Salt Lake and Ogden. She was 34 years of age.
