Does anyone remember the Shakshobers in Bennington, Vermont? Jacob Shakshober moved there in 1907 after being appointed county clerk. He had three children: Harold McLean (who went by "MAC"), Miriam Elizabeth, and Mary St. George. Miriam Shakshober married Henry Murphy and they ran a guest house at 307 South Street called "JACOB'S REST" next to the Texaco station and across the street from Friendly's restaurant (I don't know if it's still there). Miriam Murphy died in December of 1980, so I thought it was possible someone out there may have known her.
