Nice Photo-thanks for posting it!!
I found a death record for Amandus Goddard- I copied it, so if you would like it ,send me your address, and I'll mail it to you. His father was Anthony Goddard- born in Canada: His mother was Eunice Alger- born in Franklin, Vermont. If you want to e-mail me directly my right e-mail address is dlfrench41@aol.com The one listed on this board is not right, and it causes a lot of miss communication. I can't figure out how to change it!!
Thankyou so much for taking the time to answer my querie. Carrol S. Page was my great-great grandfather, and I've been stumped finding our more about his wife, Ellen Francis Patch's parents- Theophillus Hull Patch and Desdemona Jackson. I understand they were from Johnson anyhow, so unlikely they were in the Hyde park cemetary.
And all my records show that Emeroy Goddard Page, my great grandmother, and her father, amandus goddard were born in St. Armand, Missaquoi, Quebec, but no luck pinning down his parents either. I wonder if charles was Emeroy's sibling and Stella his wife?
I've only been to the village cemetary once, several years ago when we buried my grandmother, Sara parna smith. It is lovely indeed. I have several pictures of Hyde park back in the 20's I would be happy to share if you would be interested. This one is of my grandfather and his new car-- about 1923
thanks, again!
Ann

My father knows exactly where the Burns Farm was so never mind that. I actually went there as a small child. The Burns came to our home in Brattleboro many times to stay on a visit. I remember then very well. Robb Burns passed & his wife sold the farm & bought a large old house in Cambridge Ctr. that I remember going to visit. She passed many yrs. back now. They were very nice people. Although after Robb died Mrs. Burns kind of drifted away from my father. He tried to visit her & get her to stay with him but she wouldn't so? He does have some things Robb Burns gave him including a picture that was painted of the farm. Also I remember a man I called Mr. Brown who tamed chipmonks a nice man. We used to feed them peanuts.
I am going to call the library because I would also like to track down any article written about the ski event my father won against the Canadian team. Wish I could remember the woman that worked in the school system that knew my father? She remembered the ski competition clearly but . . .
Once again thank you for all of your help you are a very kind person!

French: Yes the woman says she can read English & speak some so we are communicating.
The stone is a strange one to me also because Dad said he saw the stone of his fathers in Cambridge Cemetery but if he was never buried there it may have been removed & plot sold at some point?
He also wonders who sold the farm property and the barn that was left there after his father died. It is strange that his oldest brother wasn't given the place to re-build the farm house. My father did stay one summer that I know of with his oldest brother (Arthur) then after he left the Burn's farm he stayed with him for a short time in Brattleboro, Vt. Seems his brother was almost old enough to be his father. Arthur was 18 yrs. older than my father. He also died young - very sad he left his wife & 6 children. He is buried in Vernon, VT.
My father also keeps remembering more things although his grandmother Elinor was alive when his father died he does not remember her at all which is interesting. I would have thought he would have saw her after that but he says he doesn't remember her at all. Maybe his mother Evelina & her didn't get along or something? He does know of his grandfathers farm in Underhill though. Wonder what happened to the grandmother?

I don't understand why my e-mail bounced back: Maybe I did a typo: It is dlfrench41@aol.com. The man I talked to in Franklin, about the cemetery, is Cecil King. He's the one That told me there were two Boudreau lots in the Catholic Cemetery with unidentified burials. He really seems like a wonderful person, very christian, and caring about our deseased ancestors, The man I talked to, in Cambridge, about the fire, was Duane Chase. He was quite friendly, but admitted he knew more about 1800's history then he knows about the 1900's. I can probably locate the Burns Farm ok. that's not to far away.
The inventory I have on the Cambridge Cemeteries doesn't list any Boudreaus. It was taken in the 1970's, and includes all stones that existed then. That leaves a big question. If your dad saw one I wonder if at any time the cemetery was vandalized, and stones destroyed. That bothers me. The news papers are all at our local library, from about 1861-2 up to date. They also have them on film at the state library, but they are the same as what is here. Possibly Cambridge had their own paper at the time. That may be worth looking into. The State Library could help with that too. The # at the state library is 802-828-3261. That is the main number, and you would ask for research dept. Duane Chase's # is 802-644-2696. I had Cecil Kings on a scrap of paper, and can't put my hands on it right now, but you can probably get it through information. If you have trouble with it, let me know.Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.Oh- did you get your french message translated? If not, if you send it to me, I can find a frenchman in my neighborhood that I'm sure would do it.

I tried emailing to your email address & came back to me?
I just talked w/my father & believe we have the correct farm! He told me about a huge pond near there he used to swim in & I found it - Metcalf Pond north of there. Who is the older gentlemen you talked to? Does he know the Burn's farm - Robb Burns on Caddy Hill Road in Cambridge (off Rt. 15)? That is where my father was from age of 7 until 16 yrs. Dad said that the Burn's had a camp on Metcalf Pond. Interesting.
Daddy said at the time his father died he thought that the house but not the barn had burnt & on the death cert. it said Armidas owned his farm. Dad said it was probably though that he would re-build the house because he was a carpenter. My father knows of barns that are still there that his father built.
When I get enough info. I am going to go up there & take pictures to include in info I will give to my father. Not sure at this point if my father will be traveling anywhere.
Oh one other thing. I asked him why he thought his father was buried in Cambridge Hill cemetery & he said there was a sstone there he saw it. He said maybe the stone was put there but the grave never used? He said Robb Burns took him tto the grave site & the stone & showed him. That's interesting, huh?
What is the name of the cemetery in Franklin that the two "Boudreau" stones were that you found? There is a site of folks that will go there for mileage & take pictures. Also I have been going thru every cemetery site I can find & have found one Boudreau stone wondering if the same place.
I rec'd the info you sent today - thank you. You will receive mail from me this next week. I wrote in email that came back to me. On the funeral info that was in the paper it stated five brothers but only four were listed & one brother-in law they must have missed one. I thought at first they meant five including the brother-in-law but at the end it said there were five brothers & four sisters.
Also my father knew that his grandfather Edmond had a big farm in Underhill. On the 1920 census it lists him as owner of a farm. I just don't understand the farm numbers & dwelling/house numbers so will look into that further.
I am also going to try to contact the Morrisville Messenger it it is still a paper or try to track down where the old papers are. There is a state place where there is a lot of old things so maybe they have them there?
Thank you again so much for all of your digging. This is so interesting & my father gets so very excited about all of it.
Funny how the funeral write-up listed his father as Richard? His "real" name on birth cert. being Frederic Hormisdas Boudreau. Obviously the Armidis came from Hormisdas & Dad remembers folks calling him Dick which I thought came from Frederic (spelled with no "k" at end) but where did Richard come from? Then again his wife was listed as Evelyn when her name was Evelina but in tracing her we have found it may really have been Adrilene. I think it was the people not knowing the language & spelling the way they thought it sounded?
Take care talk with you later.
Sincerely . . . Wendi

Unfortunately I don't speak french, but I wonder if you took the reply to the french teacher at your local high school perhaps he could help. Last evening I talked to a wonderful guy fron Franklin. He has done some searching for us. He located 2 burial spots in the Catholic Cemetery in Franklin, identified as Boudreau lots, with no 1st names. I bet they are Armidias and Edmund. I wish I could drive up there, and see for myself, but I don't drive that far anymore. Old age is taking its toll! I found one man in Cambridge that was familiar with a fire in North Cambridge, but only knew that the house burned, but not the barn. He thought it belonged to a Leo Boudreau. Is that name familiar to you? He thought it was at the base of Urie Road.Perhaps that is why your dad remembers a hill. Was he ever taken ther to see the site? I will research this further.

I spoke with my father for just a little today. He is not feeling good & I am worried. Seems they don't know what is up with him. He has not been able to hold food or drink for about 4 weeks now. Anyway he said yes the farm was in North Cambridge. It was an electrical storm & tree fell on the house. He does not remember if he was a live of not. As I said on 1930 census the family was in Cambridge Ctr. so the fire was before that & like you found his father died in 1931. We talked about his father Edmond's body transfer after his death from Underhill to Franklin, VT & he said one of his older brothers told him that their grand-father owed a farm just over the line in Underhill. So that was interesting. He is starting to remember bits & pcs. & letting me know. I asked about some other siblings & he told me his brother Rudolph went to work on a farm - McQuien (sp?) in Cambridge & one of his sisters Eleanor was married to a Fred LaVoie who ran a liq. str. in Burlington, VT. I do know she was married & divorced someone told me they have found a divorce certificate in her belongings. So I have some other things to check on now.
Hope you feel better many things going around.
Sincerely . . . Millie

I sent you one message, but don't think it got posted. My computer has bad spells once in a while.I do love prennials, any color any size. I have a bank on the edge of my property I am trying to cover.I have a variety of plants & shrubs there, and there's always room for more.Right now sunflowers are in bloom, and also my "buff ball" trees. I know they have a name, but can never remember it.I like to have things that bloom at different times through the summer- then the area always looks alive. The black eyed susans are about gone by, as is everything else. As much as I love the buff balls I know they're a signal for summers end. Let me know when you receive the items I sent you. I didn't do much today- felt a littl "dumpy". Will call Cambridge fire chief tomorrow, and hope before weeks end I can get down there to browse through the box of stuff I told you about.

I talked to Mr. King this evening. He said there are two Boudreau's in the Catholic Cemetery in Franklin. One is named Howard, the other not named. He said he would get to town and check other cemetery records within the next few days. He said he knows a Richard Boudreau that lives in Franklin now. He's going to ask some questions of him.Hope to find something!!

Sorry- my abbreviation was bad- should be obit for obituary. There was nothing in the paper about the fire, so I will try to contact the Cambridge Chief. Haven't as yet heard from the guy on the cemeteries. I tried his number twice today, will try again in a few minutes. I am putting the items I have accumulated in the out side box at the post office this evening. I don't want to make you wait any longer. Whatever else I can find I'll e-mail or mail later

When I speak with Mr. King ( the cemetery guy) I will ask him to check the lot purchases for all the cemeteries. There is no St. Joseph's in Franklin, and only one that is specified Catholic, but he could be in one of the other ones that were still having burials at the time. Also, if the fire was 1928 it may have been written up in the news paper of the time which circulated throughout Lamoille County. I am going to the library tomorrow, so will hold your mailing in case I find something. If there is nothing there I can probably be able to locate the fire chief in Cambridge & see what they have for history on their department. I should be able to come up with something.

I will get these items in the mail tomorrow. I only spent $4.00 for the transit permits from Franklin. Cambridge didn't charge me for the death record.I haven't had a chance to get down to look at all the "stuff in the box" that historical society lady has, but as soon as I can, I will, and will copy anything I think you may want. I will also continue to work on location of burial. The man with the records has been out of town this week, but hope to reach him tomorrow. I spoke with his wife & she thinks he has records of lot purchases. Also, the fire in Fletcher- do you have an idea of the year?

On Edmunds transit cert. they had written Fletcher- crossed it out and put Franklin. It was probably a careless mistake on the part of whoever filled it out. Franklin County has several 'F" towns & I think they are all close together. The town of Franklin is on the Canadian boarder, and is likely the 1st town they lived in when they came into the U.S. There is Fletcher, Fairfield and Fairfax, all which are closer to Cambridge. Edmund was transported from Underhill to Franklin,so it looks like they moved around a bit, but chose to be buried in their "home town-U.S. of A.

The name of the Catholic Cemetery in Franklin is St. Mary's.I am going to call the clerk back Monday, and ask if they have any records for the sale of lots.It would be nice to know if anyone in the Boudreau family bought a large lot for all of them to share. That would give a section and row.Perhaps they didn't have financial resources to buy headstones. I sent a check for $4 to Franklin, Cambridge didn't charge anything. I was suprised to get the transit permits today, as I just mailed payment. I know they mailed them before they received it. I thought that was very nice of them. I will need your address to mail your items. I will keep your contact info in case I should get an inquiry for your area. This is about the best message board to post on. The genealogy forum is also ok. but I seem to like this.

I have some "good stuff" to mail you: Death Certifcate for Armida: transit permit for him and his father Edmund, and obituary for Armida. All records state Franklin as their burial spot, but doesn't state name of cemetery. There are 11 listed cemeteries for the town, 3 are listed as abandoned or family plots, and apparently are from the early 1800's One had it's last burial in 1881, another in 1911. That narrows it down to 6, then there's a protestant one, so that gets us down to 5. There is one Catholic Cemetery, established in 1800, and is still being used.My guess is that's where they are- will do some more checking!!
I haven't been there for a few years. I am dlfrench41@aol.com
I spoke with the Town Clerk in Franklin this a.m.. They have a transit permit for Armida. He was transported from the hospital to Cambridge for his funeral, then to Franklin for burial. They have him recorded in an undetermined cemetery & grave. They also have the same for Edmund jr. I have sent them a written request & $4.00 for a copy of each. Should have it by mid week. Also have ordered a certificate from Cambridge, they located on his death. Haven't called Fletcher yet, but will this afternoon. I will also get to Cambridge to look over the items in the box.

I am glad to know this is real progress. I will make a couple calls today. I won't be able to get to Cambridge or Fletcher before the 1st of next week, but the lady I spoke with last night invited me to her house to look through this box of stuff she has. Evidently it is full of notes of an older lady, that died a few years ago. It is all genealogy on Cambridge people. She was a little eccentric, and her family thought it was junk, and was going to throw it all out. This lady I connected with took it. She & her husband sorted it all out, and allows people to come and copy anything they want.I am really anxious to go down, but need to set a time with her, as her husband is not well. He is 88 years old, and had a stroke last fall, so I must respect that. It's interesting you know you live in Erving,. As a youngster- back in the 50's, I lived with a foster family in East Northfield. I was there 7years before coming back here to live with my grandmother.
I think I'm gaining on your request.I spoke to a lady from the Cambridge Historical Society this evening. She has a box of genealogy notes on various families from early years. In the box is a note that says Armadias died June 6,1931, His wife was Evilina (sp?) Tourango, His parents were Edmund & Elinor D**** In the corner of the page is BDH, and we both agree he died at the Bishop Digosbriand Hospital in Burlington. Also in the corner is "Fletcher". What that means I don't know. I will call the Fletcher Clerk tomorrow & ask what they have for records on him. The lady I spoke with said all his children & some grandchildren are listed. I feel like I'l "on a roll" Hopefully I'll be able to find his burial location with a little determination.

I have on the cemetery list that Lydia (Buker) Heath dates were 1836-1909: Sanford W. Heath was 1828-1911. They are buried in the Jeffersonville Village Cemetery. In the same cemetery is Gertrude Powell 1883-1941: Etta J. Day was born in 1860- her death date isn't complete- only19**. The other names you mentioned are not listed.
Other cemeteries with Heath/Day/ Powell are the Hopkins Cemetery and Mountain View. All the cemeteries are listed including a couple private ones. It's likely that some are buried without headstones. I know the town clerk has a box of index cards with ancient burials, and I question if they check that box when someone makes a phone inquiry. Maybe someday soon I can get down there; if I can I may be able to dig up something.
Thank you for your inquiry.
I did find that both Samuel and Sarah were living with their daughter and son-in-law Sanford W. and Sydia/Lydia Heath in Cambridge on the 1860 census and both were gone by the 1870 census.
Perhaps they are in a private family cemetery or in a plot with their daughter and son-in-law who stayed in Cambridge the rest of their lives. Sanford was 81 on the 1910 census living with son-in-law Allie Day, daughter Etta, granddaughter Gerty Powell and great grandson Archie Powell. Lydia Sanford died between 1900 and 1910.
Thank you for your help.
Loretta
Wisconsin

I have a complete record of all the Cambridge/Jeffersonville
cemeteries and there is no Hawkins listed.Depending on where they lived in the town, they could have been buried in one of the neighboring towns. I will call the Cambridge Town Clerk tomorrow, and see if they have any info on them.

Cambridge - Hill Cemetary I have been told. The state does not have a listing for my grandfathers grave site. My father knows he was buried there he was taken to his grave when he was very young. My grandfathers birth name was Frederic Hormisdas Boudreau. He was called Dick by his friends. On 1920&30 census he is listed as Armida/Armidas Boudreau. He has also been listed in other places as Amida Fideria & also Fideria. He was born Mar 1885 in Quebec, Canada. He died around 1930 or a bit later. His wife was Evelina & they had 9 children. At the time of his death the family was living in Cambridge Center.

Don't know if you can help me or not? I talked w/Sec. of State Dept. & they said not such record? I am looking for the location of my grandfather who was buried in the Hill cemetary (as my father calls it) in Cambridge. My grandfather died in Cambridge around 1930/32. My father was taken to the stone but can not remember exactly where it is located he was very young about 2/3yrs. when father died. His birth name was: Frederic Hormisdas Boudreau, called Dick by friends but recorded on 1920&1930 census as Armida/Armidas. DOB: 3/10/1985 Dunham Quebec Canada. Are you from that area? If so if there are any older folks left in Cambridge area they would most likely know my father. He was placed on the Burns Farm (Robb Burns) on Caddy Lane or Hill in Cambridge. He lived & worked their from the age of 7 yrs until about 16 yrs. He attended Cambridge grade school & Jeffersonville high school. My grandfather was a Catholic.

My father now says the farm fire was in North Cambridge. He said he was just born he believes when it occured. He was born in Mar 1928. Now I know it was not after 1930 census in April because it lists the family living in Cambridge Ctr. So the fire had to be before that.
Also I did some research of St. Mary's cemetary & from what I read it was predominately Irish Catholic. Maybe St. Joseph's?
I will work on trying to track down where Adelare & Ovila were buried & maybe the same cemetary?
I also rec'd a copy of my fathers sister - Eleanor (that just passed away) she was born in Franklin, VT. Funny it lists father as Amedas. Yet another spelling!
