My name is Gary Wood and I descend directly thourhg a male line form Harrison Wood (b. 1768, lived in Albemarle in the late 1700's and early 1800's.) I have the username gwood22949 on ancestry.com and am kit number 231106 on the family tree DNA site. I think I found your husband's DNA results in the Wood DNA project (I am guessing kit number 38681) but we do not have a close match. From that I would guess your James Wood and my Harrison Wood from about the same eras are not close relatives. I am not an expert with the DNA science, but I do have a close match to a gentleman who traces his line back to Maryland. There are many suggestions that my Harrison and perhaps Zachariah and or others, moved into Albemarle from Calvert County or thereabouts in the late 1700's - though no one has been able to find records to support that theory.

My ancestry tree and my family tree info are all public. I am on vacation right now and have not spent the time I need to see if there are any overlaps in our trees, but you are welcome to look at anything I have. If I cna be of help with any other questions, let me know.
