Death (1 Jul 1928): From "Summers County Cemetery Book":
James Thomas born Feb. 11, 1858 d. Jul 1, 1928 bur. Greenbrier Cem.

Certificate of Death gives date of death as July 4, 1928.(1)
Burial: Directions: " At end of Sec. Rd. 13/1. The cemetery is on what once was
the Wimmer Farm, a portion of the cem. being reserved for the Wimmer family and
was sometimes referred to as 'the Old Cemetery' (located in section G of
Greenbrier Burial Park). Most of those buried in Wimmer Cemetery are listed as
being in Greenbrier Cemetery since the exact boundaries of the Wimmer Cem. were
not known at the time of inventory. Section B contains graves relocated during
the Bluestone Dam Project. The graves were removed from the following original
cems: Flatfield, Haynes, Unnamed, Barker, Smith, Bull Falls and Crumps Bottom.
Only three or four of the relocated brass grave markers were found in the '95
inventory. In section C is a row of Unknown markers, graves said to have been
relocated in preparation for construction of I-64" (Summers County Cemetery
Book)(1)

Census (1860 and 1870): Listed as 2 years old in 1860 census and 11 years old in
1870 census (see father for details).
Religion: From a book entitled Illustrated Bible Scenes and Studies: Volume II
published by H. H. Hardesty in 1890 in Richmond.. There is one chapter at the
back of the book entitled "Churches and Church Members of Fayette and Summers"
(counties in WV). In this section information on James T. Meadows:

JAMES T. MEADOWS,
About 1875, joined the Elk Knob Missionary Baptist Church; baptized by Rev. John
Bragg. At the organization of the Upland Congregation, fall of 1886, he became
a member. On May 2, 1878, he married Leannar Virginia Buckland, who was
baptized when he was, and united with the church at the same time. Their
children were born in the order named: Martha Susan; JohnS., died in infancy;
James W.; Everett Preston; Sarah A., died aged 2 years, and Lucile Frances.
Martha and James attend the Sunday School at Bowden School House.
Mr. Meadows is a son of Madison C. and Mary A. (Garten) Meadows, members of the
Missionary Baptist Church, which his mother joined when she was young. His wife
is a daughter of Richard and Sarah (Wheeler) Buckland. Her father, a member of
the Baptist church, died in 1872; her mother, a member of the Missionary
Baptist Church, now lives with her children.

Directions to the church, from Patty Deeds:
"If you go to Hinton, WV there is an Elk Knob Mountain and Elk Knob Cemetery is
about a 30 minute drive up the mountain to a fork in the road. Turn right and
travel another couple of miles and the cemetery is behind Elk Knob Church on the
right side of the road. Sorry I don't really know the names of the roads but I
never paid attention because I was so used to traveling those roads. My maternal
grandparents, great grandparents, etc. (Richmond's, Meadows, Grimmett's)are
buried there. I plan to go to the cemetery within the month when I visit my
mother. Hope this helps. Patty"
