Classification: Query
I live in San Jose, CA and have never lived outside California.

I did a descendancy study on the descendants of James Edmunds and Sarah Lavender which I completed several years ago. The results are in my family tree online that can be viewed at:

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op...

My study was based on a variety of sources, most of which were sources I found on the internet. Except for my direct line, I never intended to try and make the study more complete that I was able to find during my study.

I have a specific birth date for James Edmunds, Jr., of April 12, 1774, but I do not have an exact date of death (although I have September 1834 in my database, but cannot tell you the source from which I obtained or deduced the year of death) and I have no exact dates for Jean Innis. Therefore, I conclude that I never found their tombstones.

They had a son James J. Edmunds, born October 19, 1805, died approximately 1845-1848 (no in 1850 census). Here are my notes on him:

____
He is probably the tally mark, age 10-15 in his father's household in the 1820 census for Warren Co., KY with the entire household listed as 010101-00001.

He is listed as John J. Edmunds, head of household, in the 1830 census for Warren Co., KY, age 20-29, with the whose household listed as 0000100-00001.

He is listed as Jno. J. Edmunds, head of household, in the 1840 census for Warren Co., KY, age 30-39, with the whole household listed as 10100100-110000100.

I cannot find him in the 1850 census.

From the book "Early Tennessee Settlers, 1700s-1900s, Henry County "Old Time Stuff", Estates, Guardians, Orders, etc, Page 50

At the October 9, 1856 court a petition to divide the estate, Samuel C Edmunds, Sarah A. Edmunds, and Mary A Edmunds, minors by next friend, heirs of John J Edmunds deceased. There was 441 acres of land to be divided. Sarah A Edmunds was the relict or widow and the others were the children of the deceased. (C.C. Min. 1849-59 p.386)

_______

John J. Edmunds married Sarah A. Martin (not sure about her maiden name). I am not sure whether the Sarah A. Edmunds in the 1856 record above is the widow or one of the minor children. One child, Samuel C. Edmunds, was born December 23, 1831, in Warren Co., KY and married Drucilla Hardy and the daughter Mary A. Edmunds, born November 10, 1842, in Warren Co., KY married John William Buchanan on April 11, 1861 in Henry Co., TN. Based on the 1840 census, there seems to be two minor females who do not appear with their mother in the 1850 census. I don't know anything more about these two additional females (daughters?).

Sarah A. Edmunds, wife of John J. Edmunds, appears as head of household in the 1850 Henry Co., TN, census.

Please refer to my online family tree and the notes included with this tree before sending me further queries to help you with your problem areas in your Edmunds descendancy study.
