In 1948 Nathaniel Ragland Featherston wrote, "The History of Appomattox, Virginia; Also World War II - I and Spanish American War Service Record." It has since been reprinted and is available from The Appomattox American Legion Post 104, Appomattox, Virginia. The publication is a wonderful record of various families who lived in that county, has many pictures, and does have reference to the Smith, Morris, Mayberry, Megginson, and Ferguson families. For instance, one entry reads,
"Morris, Charles H., 1858-1920, Married Addie Ferguson, 1868-1946.
Children: Lawrence, 1884, Married Tarry Hatch of Disputana; Joel, 1887, Married Chessie wright, 1886; Bessie, 1890, Married Thornton R. Carter; John D., 1893-1932; Dillie, 1896, Married Leonard W. Carter; Odelle, 1898-1929, Married Mott McFadden; Abednigo, 1900, Married Nannie Carter, 1902; Nannie, 1903, Married Julian McFadden; Janie, 1906, Married Walter Frazier of Lynchburg; Jennings, 1908, Married Mamie Camper of Buchanan; and Neva, 1910, Married Wilie Hamilton."
In addition to this one, ten other Morris families are listed. Hope this will be of some help.
