When I attended school in Appomattox County (Appomattox High School) the black school had been named "Carver-Price High School". Today it is a museum of African-American History and a branch of Central Virginia Community College centered in Lynchburg, VA.
The Appomattox County Historical Society may be able to help you with some of your quest. Good Luck!
