Hi Eveyone,

Dr. Gloria Seaman Allen and an outstanding team of needlework and textile historians will offer FREE examinations of historic 18th and 19th century samplers and pictorial needlework created in the Washington, DC area by appointment on Saturday, May 15, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the National Theatre’s Helen Hayes Gallery, located at 1321 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, DC. Appointments may be made by calling Sue at 240-416-2471, or by email at slocum_s@msn.com
Dr. Allen and her team will educate participants about the origins and time period of their needlework, and relate the object to known regional styles and identified works from schools in the Washington region. In addition, they will offer suggestions on how to properly care for and conserve treasured family needlework. MONETARY VALUATIONS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. Participants are encouraged to provide their family genealogy and any pertinent information they may have on the origins of their needlework to aide in the evaluations.
For more program information, contact the National Theatre at 202-783-3370.
