I know there were various warrants and bounties for land obtained from the colonial governments. Library of Virginia has records of same, and I know that in the 1770's - 1780's land was given in Greenbrier County. Although the record does not indicate that it is for revolutionary war service the relative who claimed this land was in military service during the revolution.

Regardless of where the Indians came from they were ative in Greenbrier Co., Bath and Augusta Cos. as well. Cavendish's 1st wife was the widow Nancy McCoy. She and her children had been taken hostage by Indians and her husband killed when Indians raided their homestead and settlement.
It was Cavendish who negotiated the release of Nancy and her children; he then married her.

My understanding that the Virginia military bounty lands were in Kentucky might have been misconstrued since most of the land westr of the mountains of Virginia were considered "Kentucky.
