Classification: Query
Surnames: Paxton Platt Wysong
Andrew Platt, son of Joseph & Margaret Platt, born York Co, PA, enlisted in the 12th US Infantry from Botetourt Co VA on 28 November 1812 at the age of 25 years.
He was enlisted by Captain James Paxton, Company Commander of the 12th US Infantry.
I have no records of Andrew or his parents moving from York Co to the Botetourt Co VA area.
If there is evidence of where in Botetourt Co Capt James Paxton enlisted his men, I would have a good starting point for finding my Platt family.
I have looked at the families living in Botetourt Co in the 1810 census, finding an alphabetic list of all individuals, including
Henry Plott, b cir 1765-1784,(error, b 1754)thought to be Andrew's uncle
Fayette Wysong, b before 1765, bro to his aunt
and the only Paxton, a Raubin Paxton, b cir 1765-1784

I am looking for the specific area of Botetourt Co a Captain James Paxton lived in 1812 when he enlisted his men for the 12th US Infantry.
Regards, Jane Tripp
