My grandfather was Mortie J. Brown. ~ (New information for me.)
His father was John Thomas Brown of Tazewell, Buchanan , VA. ~ (I have a John T. Brown born cir. August 1860. Parents John R. Brown and Rachel Steel Wilson .)
JT Brown's parents are supposedly John R. Brown and Rachel, however that is as far back as we can go. ~ (John R. Brown and Rachel are buried in Jones Chapel Cemetery near Cedar Bluff, Richlands, VA (next to Richlands High School.))

~ John R Brown is the son of John Brown and Phoebe Claypool, who are also buried in Jones Chapel Cemetery . (The first registered marriage in Tazewell Co. VA 1800 is claimed by this couple.)
John Brown is the son of James Brown and Esther Goff of Washington, Russell and Tazewell VA.
(The county boundaries changed around this family there were no real family moves.) ~

John Thomas Brown married Florence Viola Anderson. ~ (new information for me.)
She had previously been married to George Phipps. ~ (new information for me.)
George and Florence had a daughter Ina (Inez) Mae Phipps. ~ (suspected information.)
Ina (Inez) Mae Phipps married Garland Hascue Brown. ~ (family information and marriage certificate.) ~ There was story told to me at a family reunion about Inez that when she was 15 or so that she and Garland were”romantic” together. Inez helped in the home as many young girls did in that day working at other people homes. That when Garland ’s 1st wife Matilda found out she left him and cursed Inez to have many children. Supposedly Inez had three ? sets of twins.
It is interesting that “romance” this took place in this area. I can’t help but point out that the Claypool family were instrumental in introducing Mormon belief years before. And many Claypool as well as Brown’s went west with the Mormon following. Maybe the idea of two wives appealed to many more men in the county after that.

The relationship between John Thomas Brown and Garland Hascue Brown seems to be that they were cousins (second - once removed..??) anyway they were the fourth generation from their common ancestors James Brown and Esther Goff.

Your great uncle Lawrence Hascue Brown carried the same middle name as Garland . ~ interesting..
