Tompkins Hurt Place? West side of Little Falling River

Perhaps some can help. I have an excerpt from one of the old "traditional histories", which means it is unsourced and undocumented. It says. Abraham Irvine (1729-1777) m. Margaret Rodgers (1744-1800)
Abraham and Margaret "lived on the west side of Little Falling River on what later became the Tompkins Hurt place, and still later known as the Joe Clay place." I suspect Abraham was not born until 1739-1740 but who knows? Anyway, does anyone know where the "Tompkins Hurt place" was in Bedford or Campbell county, Va.? Or the "Joe Clay place? Edwin D. Irvin
