CANA, Va. — Mrs. Alice Vernice Pack Edwards, 70, of 318 Cedar Lane, Cana, widow of Mr. Isaac Roy Edwards Sr., passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C..

She was born April 2, 1941, in Surry County, NC to the late Fred and Essie Lambert Pack.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are five daughters and four sons-in-law, Alice Caviness and Richard of Austinville, Leona Childress and Allan of Dobson, Polly Simmons and Corey of Cana, Danielle and Gerald Johnson of Cana, and Amanda Wall of Lowgap, N.C.; four sons and daughters–in-law, Herman Edwards and Lisa of Lowgap, Hank Edwards and Deana of Hillsville, Howard Edwards and Sharonette of Lambsburg and Isaac Roy Edwards Jr. and Tanyia of Laurel Fork; 15 grandchildren, Jessica Bowen and husband, Aaron, Mark Edwards, Matthew Edwards, Kaitlyn Edwards,Roxton Edwards, Emmalee Caviness, Madelyn Caviness, Morgan Wall, Forrest Johnson, Laken Johnson, Ethan Edwards, Adam Cox, Lynn Cox, Kimberly Cox and Octavia Simmons; one great-grandchild, Caden Stone; eight sisters and six brothers-in-law, Barbara and Henry Cromer of Mount Airy, Sylvia and Junior Gwyn of Mount Airy, Betty and George Edwards of Lambsburg, Letty and Bruce Edwards of Lambsburg, Evon Lawson of Pinnacle, N.C., Carla Edwards of Lambsburg, Brenda and Mac Wagner of Mount Airy and Joann and Wayne Jones of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Jean Pack of Pinnacle.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by a twin brother, Vernon Pack; and a sister, Shirlene Poindexter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Arwood Edwards, Elder Lacy Gates and Elder David Edwards. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church, where her body will remain until time of the service.
