Mrs. Ida Mae Edwards Edwards, age 79, of Mount Airy, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born May 2, 1932 in Carroll County, VA to the late John Walter & Susie Newes Thomas Edwards. Mrs. Edwards retired from Lynne’s Hoisery where she paired socks and was of the Baptist Faith. She is survived by her daughters: Betty Newes Edwards of the home & Donna Kay Edwards of the home & friend Rodney Johnson; sons: Elisha Timmy “Tim” & wife Karen Bowman Edwards and Monroe Teddy “Ted” & wife Amy Carpenter Edwards all of Mount Airy; grandchildren: Emily Catherine Edwards and Ethan Monroe Edwards; sister: Elsie Gladys Goins; Mount Airy and sister-in-law: Cora & husband Everett Hawks; Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha Monroe Edwards and brothers & sisters, William Cabble Edwards, Irving Edwards, Roy Edwards, Dorothy Cathalean Edwards, Jonie Cecil Edwards and Donal Clinton Edwards. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by Rev. Larry Thomas with interment to follow at Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 6-9 pm at Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy.
