My wife and I were helping my father-in-law, Claude Reid Spencer, research his Spencer line in the 1990s. Carlos Surratt (also a Spencer Descendant) of Mt. Airy helped us. One of the people he introduced us to was Annie. It turned out she and Claude were first cousins. She and Alex were wonderful people. They invited us into their home and treated us like we were their children.Her mother, Sara Jane was one of the oldest children of Samuel W. and LouAnna Jacquey Spencer of Carroll Co. Claude's father, Ewell Jessie Spencer was a younger son who left the area before WWI and told his family in Gastonia NC little to nothing about his Va. Family. Samuel W. died about 1898, Louanna in 1941, Ewell Jessie in 1956 and Claude Reid in 2011. Anyone researching these folks please contact me. Thanks, Rick Frizzell
