If someone could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. Lucy Royal (listed as mulatto on 1910 Census) shows that she owned a "mansion house" in Charlotte County according to her will. I have her death as 30 Aug 1919, if someone could look up an obituary for her, I would be very grateful. I am trying to understand how she got this mansion and just the history of her family. I have African American cousins who are Royals and I think they descend from this Royal family in Halifax/Charlotte area but they later lived in Lynchburg. I believe that Francis L. Royal (slaveowner) is the father of a Benny Royal, but understanding how Lucy ended up with a mansion house might help. Thank you!
