Hi Charlotte,

You didn't give me much information but I was able to get some info for
you. Not sure what you already have so I give you what I found. Your
William Stowe is not part of my family. I started with finding him in
the 1910 census of Winnebago Co., Wisconsin, part of it is below.

William Stowe, age 42, m. 24 yrs, b. WI, father WI, mother WI
Wealthy " , age 41, " , b. WI, f. WI, m. WI
did not write down the kids living at home.

1900 census, Winnebago Co., WI:
Willie Stowe, b. Dec. 1866, age 33, married 14 yrs, WI, WI, WI, can't
read occupation, owns home
Wealthy " , b. Oct. 1867, age 32, " " , WI,
father NY, mother NY
with children

1880 census, Winnebago Co., WI:
Martin, Ester, female, age 56, Head, NY, FR, Canda
" , Silas, male, age 24, Son, WI, Canada, NY
" , Charles, male, age 14, Son, WI, Canada, NY
Stowe, William, male, age 13, GranSon, WI, WI, WI
Martin, Eddie, male, age 10, Son, WI, Canada, NY

I couldn't find William Stowe on the 1870 census so next thing to do
was to hunt for Ester and Silas. If Ester Martin is William's
grandmother she must be William's mother's mother. So----

1870 census, Winnebago Co., WI:
Peter Martin, age 52, b. New York
Ester " , age 45, b. " "
7 kids living at home including:
Silas Martin, age 13, b. WI
Hattie " , age 11, b. WI

Silas and Hattie were both b. WI so Hattie Martin would naturally be
William's mother.

1860 census, Winnebago Co., WI:
Peter Martin, age 44, laborer, b. NY
Ester " , age 36, NY
Josephine ". f., 14, NY
Isora " , f., 11, NY
Lucuis " , m., 9, NY
Silas " , m., 3, WI
Hattie " , f., 1, WI
Peter Martin, m., 90, Canada

I didn't find William's father but you could by researching Hattie,
poss. her marriage and/or death of William's father. Hattie may have
been the one to die and her husband could have got remarried, left
William with Hattie's mother and moved somewhere else. I waited until
yesterday when I could use the FHC's high speed computer and use
Ancestry's census, I volunteer at the Family History Center on
Tuesday. If you can get to your local FHC {at the LDS church) and get
help from one of the volunteers it would help you. I am not Mormon
but I've been using the FHC for 13 yrs every Tuesday. You might even
have to write to the Winebago County Clerk for the record or the
local historical or genealogical society to find William's father. Do
not give up .....

Best of luck,
Charley Stowe, Grass Valley, CA
