My ATKINSON ancestors have not been trace further back than WILLIAM ATKINSON b.- ca. 1751, d.- 2 Jan 1834 , m.- 9 Jun 1792 widow PHEBE Mc GEE in Powhatan Co., VA.
(1)Powhatan was formed from Cumberland Co, Va. in 1777, and later part of Chesterfield County was added.
(2) Chesterfield was formed from Henrico Co, Va in 1749.
(3) Cumberland was formed from Goochland in 1749.
(4) Goochland was formed from Henrico in 1728.
Records of his birth may be in Chesterfield or Henrico counties. I am assuming that the place where he lived was originally in Henrico Co., Va, which later became Chesterfield Co., Va, and still later became Powhatan Co., Va.
Has any one seen information on this person? I am looking for his parents and siblings. There was one son from this marriage, THOMAS ATKINSON b,- 13 Apr 1793, d.- 1 Aug 1855, m.- 27 Oct 1825 MARGERY BARTON AMMONETTE in Powhatan Co., Va, they lived in Chesterfield Co., Va.
