Hello! It's so nice to meet you! I am always excited when I connect with a relative from my fathers line. I am not the owner of the Gilbert portrait ( I wish)! The last owner of Springsbury , Mrs Casey, always wanted the original to hang in the home but was never able to acquire it. I believe that it was recently put up for auction but I have no other information on it. I will do some research and see if I can find more. Its cool that your mother had the companion portrait. Have you ever been to Berryville va to see the mansion house? I was also able to visit the cemetery where our relatives are buried. It was a wonderful experience walking and finding their graves. I plan on going to the Library of Congress to see his papers etc. Apparently boxes and boxes of his effects were donated. There is a book in John Holker's life and I am surprised no one has written it yet.
