I have been working on my Wells 3rd gt grandmother for years with no luck. Hope it rings a bell with someone.

Virginia Ann Wells b. 1828 Va. died in Mystic Ct. 1883 wife of Henry Gilbert whom she married probably in Petersburg Va. The death record says "dau. of Dan" The 1880 census she claims her father was born in N.C. as well as her mother. Virginia and Henry have a son Charles born in Petersburg 1848 but are in Ct. by the 1850 census. In that same census and family there is an Elizabeth same age as Virginia also born in Va. possible twin sister. It was mentioned in family history Henry was involved in a Silk Mill down there perhaps in Hopewell. There is a Dan in the 1830 census of Dinwiddy,Two in 1820, one might be Dan P. and wife Mary. He had a second wife and not all the children are identified.

Thank you, Jeffrey Howe
