It looks more and more certain that this George Washington Grayson was born out of wedlock to George Washington Grayson born in VA in 1778 (?) and Rachel McCord of Kentucky. The following year, 1804, the father married Octavia Edmonds, an heiress. The baby of 1803 shows up in their household every year. Octavia's will says she has two children but names only one, the legitimate daughter Frances. Octavia died in 1808, the same year G.W.Grayson marrys a second heiress, Nancy Ann Carter of VA., hence he takes the 4 year old illegitimate boy back to Rachel who has married John Henry Walker. The child then shows up in the census for that family. He grows up and pushes west. There is plenty of info on him in later life. Three marriages, etc. He is my Gr. Gr.
