On 7 February 1999, I posted the following:
John Walter Royal Johnson, b Jan 1853, d 8 Feb 1908 in Richmond, VA. m1st Martha A Wells, m2nd Ellen Eliza Hall.
Allan Pitt Johnson (son of John Walter Royal Johnson and Ellen Eliza Hall), b 10 June 1888 in Richmond, VA. m Nellie Maxwell Archer, b 18 March 1894 in Bridgeton, Cumberland, NJ
The family story is that John Walter Royal Johnson was running in the rain to catch a street car and slipped and fell, injuring himself ( maybe he was hit by the street car). He died several days later, on 8 Feb 1908. Could there be a newspaper article about this?
I have a lot of information about the decendents, but have not been able to go back any farther than John Walter Royal Johnson.
Also looking for info on Justin Eaton Johnson, b abt 1878.
The next day you posted:
Sorry, Marinell! Most of my research has been focused on early Johnson history prior to 1800 in New Kent, Henrico and Goochland counties. Now, if you can establish your Johnson links to that time frame , there's a good chanch I could help you! Harold
That was over 14 years ago. Since then I have discovered the father of John Walter Royal Johnson and following is what I know:
John (Jno) Henry Johnson was a planter in Dinwiddie County, VA, near Petersburg, VA. No birth date, died 2 March 1861 in VA. At the time of his death his son John Walter Royal Johnson was 8 years old. John Henry Johnson married 4 December 1851 in Petersburg City, VA, to Anna R Allen, b 1826 in NC or VA, died after 1880. In 1857 she married her second husband Francis C Gittman. Note that her second marriage in 1857 was 4 years before the death of her first husband. Yes divorce did happen back then, but it was very rare. I wonder what really happened.
Your research is prior to 1800, and the above info is after that time, but I was wondering if you have a John (Jno) Henry Johnson in your information?
Thanking you in advance for looking into this. Marinell
