MARTINSVILLE MORNING POST, Wed., May 17, 1937, p. 4, col. 7. Laurence Claiborne Witten, 51, former Martinsville resident, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ancil Davidson Witten and brother of Mrs. O. D. Ford, DIED LATE Monday nbight at his home in Cincinnati. funeral services were held Wednesday at the Lee Memorail Chapel in Lexington, Va., with interment in the Lexington cemetery. Surviving are his wife who prior to her marriage was Miss Julia McLauren of Cincinnati, and two sons, Daniel McLauren and Laurence Claiborne Witten of Cincinnati, one sister, Mrs. O. D. Ford of Martinsville. Dateline: Lexington, March 17 - (AP) - Laurence C. Witten, 51-year-old former general agent of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Ins. Co., generous benefactor of Washington and Lee University, died at Cincinnati, Ohio. Witten, a native of Martinsville, Va. retired from active business three years ago on account of ill health after nearly 20 years with Massachusetts Mutual. [See related obits. of Richard W.
