Yes , I realize its not possible to get a record set in stone very often. With Yonts family research it was easier because there weren't that many of them. Therefore a daughter living in the right area and and about the right age was put in as a child of the only possible ancestor in the area. Still I think I will go to the Floyd and Pike County court houses and look for some deed or will in the not to distant future for Blankenships records ,deeds etc.

Since I'm sure you know Pike County was formed from Floyd County it makes things a little more complicated since they share some records that are for the same location.

I first had thought that Barnabus/Barnett was the son of Obediah Blankenship and Mary Polly McCoy, but I went to Pikeville College and looked at their genealogy section and found one book that I had went especially to look at and it didn't show Barnett as a child. The book was by Donald Lee Blankenship and the title is Descendents of Obediah Blankenship, Mary Polly McCoy. This sort of threw me a little. While at the college however the Librarian showed me a manuscript by Leoda Maps Mastro that did list Barnett as a child of Obediah and Mary. Anyway thanks for the interest and help.

Thanks Jerry
