James Wesley Greenwood, Summit street, a retired Missionary Baptist minister, were held at the McKee Funeral Home Tuesday and at the Black Branch Baptist Church. The retired minister was 78 years old and did early Monday morning at his home of bronchial pneumonia after a short illness. He had been a preacher since he was 25 years old and spent about 40 years in Christian work. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Souther Greenwood, and the following children: Margaret Adel Greenwood, city; W. S. Greenwood and J. R. Greenwood, both of Chase City. Several step-children also survive him: James A. Souther, David L. Souther, Troy D. Souther, and Bessie L. Souther, all of Martinsville; one sister, Mrs. Abi (sic) Sprinkle, Winston-Salem; and two half sisters, Mrs. Mollie Mason of Hickory, N.C., and Mrs. Martha Dodson of Statesville, N.C., and a half-brother, Johnnie Dodson, also of Statesville.
