Francis Eppes Dabney of Dinwiddie County's father was Francis Dabney listed in the Dinwiddie personal property tax lists from 1783-at least 1814. When he dropped out is unclear because Francis E. was sometimes listed as Francis. The first Francis's birth year was probably before 1746 because he was mentioned twice in the Dinwiddie County Clerk's fee book in 1763. If he was at least 18, he was born in 1845 or earlier. He appears not to have been very prosperous because he was never listed in the land tax lists.
The first Francis's father was John Dabney, first of Hanover County, then Amelia County, and finally Dinwiddie County where he was a tobacco inspector at Bolling's Warehouse near Petersburg from before 1754 to 1869.
