Surnames: Rains, Raines, Reeves, Crandle, Lee
I'd like to add my Rain(e)s line:

Robert S. Rains, b 1810
-William Henry Rains, b 1837
-Robert Thomas Rains, b 1864
-Helen Nora Rains, b 1889 - 1953

I have very recently uncovered - after a very long search - the obituary of my Gr Grandmother, Helen Nora Rain(e)s Reeves. Her death occured in Charlottesville, Va however, her burial was at the Baptist Church in White Stone. Her husband was also buried there and has a headstone. However, apparantly there is no headstone for Helen.

Her obituary appeared on the 7th and 9th of March, 1953 in the Daily News Record, Harrisonburg, Va. She had been living with a son in Port Republic when she became ill; dying suddenly after entering the hospital in Charlottesville.

Helen's husband was William E. Reeves who died tragically on the Chesapeake Bay in a storm; late 1932. His body was not discovered until the following year.

Upon her death, she left behind - in Whitestone - 3 sisters: Mrs. Rose Crandle, Mrs. Mary Crandle, Mrs. Frances Lee; 1 son: Raymond W. Reeves.

I am trying now to find a burial record from the cemetery at Whitestone Baptist Church.

Would like to uncover details of the family in Whitestone. Photos, stories, etc. I believe the family on both sides; Rain(e)s and Reeves, were oystermen, fishermen, & watermen. The boat on which her husband perished was the Rappahannock.

Many thanks
