Hi Tylee..been awhile since you were here maybe, but Samual Bettis appears to be my great-great grandfather(1852). My grandfather, William Cornell(1908) was the son of my Great Grandmother Annie (Bettis)Cornell(1891)and Walter Cornell (1885).
Annie's brothers and sisters from my research were; Bertie (1883),
Cleveland (1885),Rebecca (1889), Annie my grandfathers mother(1891),
Lula( 1892 ),Clarence(1894 ) and George (1899). Apparently my grandfather was 1/2 Cherokee Indian . My mother always told me my grandfathers mother (Annie) was Cherokee Indian. I found the name (Bettis) originally from a 1910 Census report on my great grandfathers census that a guy named Cleveland (Bettice) 25 years old lived with my great grandfather( Walter Cornell) and great grandmother (Annie Cornell). Researching (Cleveland Bettice) thinking my great-grandma's maiden name might be( Bettice) her brother living with them at the time was 25 year old in(1910) was infact a (Cleveland Bettis)born (1885). Research deeper and I discovered all the brothers and sisters names were my great-grandmothers siblings that matched Great-GreatGrandfather and G-G Mother's children (Bettis) I think the census taker made a mistake on the spelling of (Bettis) to write down as (Bettice) because all the other sibling names match perfectly living in Mt.Gilead,Loudoun County area in the late 1800's to early 1900's.
Hope this all makes sense.. by the way my grandfather later was a farmer with (8) children growing up here near where I live in Prince William County,VA. My first name (William) was named after my grandfather (William Cornell).
