I am seeking more information on Presley Roberts (sometimes listed as Preston), my g-grandfather – listed as 45 years of age in Dec 21,1865, Free Negro when he married Amelia Weaver, and as the son of Ralf and Anna Roberts. He is listed as a 54 year old Mulatto in 1870 Census for Loudoun County (recording error on his age?) birthplace – listed as VA

I can however, find no trace of him prior to the time of his marriage – or of his parents.

He is not listed in the Abstracts of Loudoun County Virginia Register of Free Negroes 1844-1861, by Patricia Duncan. I cannot find him, or his parents in the census for 1850 for Loudoun County either.

Could someone please give me some suggestions about pursuing my search.
