The Ross-Gochenaur-Skillman-Thomas-Rogers-Anderson-Edwards-Furr lineage is my father's ancestry, native to "the Trappe," Loudon County.
My mother's ancestor, John Sigel Cole was born of his Cherokee mother, Eliza Jane Hicks-Cole on the lawn in front of the Civil War prison hospital, somewhere in VA. April, 21 1861 or 2.
His father, Arthur Timothy Cole, a wounded campaign veteran died a few days later,(Since I have ancestors on both sides of the war between the states, I am tying to determine if Arthur was [probably]Union or Confederate).
The family story is that she had walked across battlefields all the way from Missouri to be near Arthur.
Eliza Jane Hicks-Cole(later)Peters, John Sigel Cole's mother, returned to be near her parents in Carroll County, Arkansas and Barry County, Missouri.
John Sigel Cole had older sisters named Mary, and Zerelda(Aunt Rildy). Mary Married Jacob Burris.
John Sigel Cole, married my GGrandmother, Emma Jane Burris.
John Sigel Cole's Aunt Zerelda maried a Samuels about 1830 in Kentucky, or Missouri.
