I found your old post requesting info on the original Bridgforths from Scotland. I'm not aware of any hard evidence or dates. There is a james Bridgforth shown on tax rolls dated 1690's in King @ Queen County, Va. It's my understanding that the Bridgforths originated from Kindardine, Scotland. The Fort River runs there -- hence our name?

I have wills of a Thomas B, 5/5/1763 in Essex Co, Va and a John B from Amelia Co, Va dated 2/7/1760. My Bridgforth line goes back to Benjamin B of Nottoway Co, Va (son of above John B) near Kenbridge, VA where many of the original Brigforths settled (combination of names of 2 families who owned the land there (Kennedy's and Brigforth's).

I would be very interested in anything you may have on the early Bridgforth immigrants. I've searched Virgina courthouse records (much was destroyed in the Civil War) but to date haven't found anything solid on the early Bridgforths.

Good Luck.
