Ronnie, try and dig up what you can about Sarah/Sally Adams and Lucy Adams.
Lucy Marries Thomas Allen in Mecklenburg in 1796. They have some kids (not clear how many) and Thomas dies.
DNA says we match to "Allen" via paternity. There is a Sam Doyle Allen that we match to 37/37 markers (90+ % chance of common dad within 8 generations). Sam Doyle Allen's line is from NC (Ephraim Allen). We need to try and figure out if there is:
A) An Allen husband for Sarah/Sally Adams that went unrecorded. Maybe William Adams came from there. I think William is named as "son" of Sarah in a will
B) Where Thomas Allen is from and whether he had a son William. In the Mecklenbug will book, there is a listing of "Descedents" for the dead guys. "Lucy" and "William" seem to be listed for Thomas Allen.
My working theory is that Thomas Allen marries Lucy Adams. They have son William and maybe other kids. Thomas dies. Lucy, William and some blend of kids (Alfred and James?) live with Sarah/Sally in 1820 census? in 1830 census Lucy is living next door?
Was William Adams born William Allen and ended up an "Adams" by moving in with them?
There were a ton of Allens moving through Mecklenburg. None were around when Thomas Allen died? Which Allen branch did he belong to?
