Smiths in Middlesex Co., VA-mid-1800s

Posted: 4 Mar 2009 3:53PM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Smith, Barrick, Bennett
John R. Smith and his second wife Sarah (Sarah Barrick, apparently) appeared on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Middlesex Co., VA censuses (and John R. Smith had also appeared by name on the 1830 and 1840 Middlesex censuses). In the home of John and Sarah between 1850 and 1870 were children and grandchildren that included James M. Smith (one older and one younger), another/younger John R. Smith, George H. Smith (he eventually married a Miss Bennett), John B. Smith, Mary Smith and a younger Sarah Smith. Are there any living male Smiths out there who "trace back" to any of the above men in this family? I am hoping that a Smith man from some branch of this overall Smith family will join the DNA test. Thanks.
