Hello all,
I have been researching my family tree and I have just recently found some interesting information. I know for a fact that my Jacobs ancestors are from the Lumbee Indian Tribe of Robeson Co. NC. I had hit a wall until recently when I found a article entitled," Origins of the Lumbee no Mystery" In the article it talks about several different surnames including the Jacobs surname. This article goes on to state that the Jacobs surname was introduced into Indian culture on or near the Gingaskin Indian Reserve in what would become Northampton Va. When the Gingaskin Indians lost their reservation around 1815 several Jacobs' moved to the Robeson County Area of NC where they became my ancestors.
Has anyone heard of this? I just recetly found out about this and am interested in findint out if this is possible.
