Classification: Query
Surnames: Creed Rucker
Elijah Creed (b ca 1756 in Orange Co.) m. Mary Rucker (b ca 1756 in prob Orange Co., prob d ca 1827 in KY) ca 1776 in Orange Co.

Elijah (sometimes found Elisha) resided in Orange Co. until ca 1781
moved to Surry Co., NC ca 1782
moved to Fayette Co., KY ca 1787
moved to Shelby Co., KY ca 1800
Listed without wife in Woodford Co., KY census in 1810 & 1820
moved to Ralls Co. (now Monroe Co.), MO, prob ca 1827-28
died Aug 1829 in Ralls Co., MO

Some sources list Elijah Sr. as dying in Kentucky, but all indications are that he came to Missouri to live with his son, Elijah, Jr. Elijah Sr., Elijah Jr. and Sinthey/Sintha Creed (Elijah Jr's young daughter) all died during a cholera outbreak in Missouri in 1829. Medical receipts from Elijah Jr's estate indicate purchases of medicine that were commonly used for cholera victims.

DNA testing of known descendants has shown genetic markers that indicate that Elijah Creed Sr. and Matthew Creed Sr. of Orange Co., VA and Surry Co., NC were very closely related. It is unclear yet whether they were brothers, cousins, etc. Bennett Creed Sr and Colby Creed were also from Orange Co., VA. All four of these were close enough in age to be brothers.

Very interested in any additional information on these early Creeds and their descendants.
