Surnames: CREED, CREEDE, McKINNEY, DAVIS, RUCKER, ESTES, PATES, CLEMENTS, CHAPMAN, WHITE, CAYCE
My Matthew Creed (1725 King Wm Co., VA-d.1793/1798 Surry Co.,NC) who married my Margaret (possibly McKinney, possible daughter of John McKinney d. 1751 Orange Co., Virginia) lived in Orange and Caroline Cos., Virginia.

Although I've done a lot of research on the CREEDS in Barbados and England, I believe my Matthew Creed was born in Virginia. Does anyone have more on the early CREEDS of Virginia????? The following are what I have on the early CREEDS of Virginia. Can you add to my research???

!31 Dec 1662, Patent Book #5, (Cavaliers and Pioneers,Vol. 1, Nell Marion Nugent, SLC lib. pg. 509) JNO. CREED was trans. by Mr. John Pate, rec. 1000a in Patomeke freshes, pg. 354, (374). due for trans of 20 pers. including JNO. CREED.

!20 Apr 1689 Mr. Francis Clements, 450a, Surry Co., in Southwark par. patent book 7, p. 703. Adj. Mr. Arthur Jordan; WM. CREED: and land of River Jordan. Trans. of 9 persons...

!21 Apr 1690, Henry King & Thomas Parham, 824a.Chass City Co., in Bristoll Par., at or nr Monocosanek to be equally div., Imp. of 17 persons, including Robert CREEDE.

!1704 Land Records King Wm Co., VA Matthew CREED wit. Geo. CHAPMAN'S deed.

!Brunswick County, VA Court Orders, 1732-1737 "Page 113. Absent: John DUKE. Present: William HAGOOD. John . Matthew CREED for not keeping the road in repair."

!6 Feb 1734/5 Brunswick Co., VA Ct. Orders,1732-1737, pg.82 has Mattthew CREED appointed surveyor on the road from Robert Humphris' to the church & then 6 Nov 1735 Ct., pg. 113 Matthew CREED in ct for not keeping the road in repair.

!3 July 1735 Brunswick Co., VA Ct. Orders, pg. 99 has 52 deeds apparently not recorded: one is for Matthew CREED.

!3 Jun 1736 Brunswick Co., VA Ct. Orders, pg. 127 The will of George White, dec'd was presented in ct. & proved. Mathew CREED, 1 of the exors, renounced the execution of the will, same being proved by John CAYCE, the other exor, a probate is granted him. Matthew CREED made oath to an acct of L6.16.6 that he has in his hands of George White's, decd and John Cayce made oath that the disbursements in his accts of L24.10.0 is just.

(1)There was a Sophia CREED who about 1748 in Virginia md Samuel TAYLOR who had a son name Creed Taylor.
(2)Lucy CREED who abt 1725 VA md Joseph Taylor who had a son Matthew Taylor.
(3)My Matthew CREED
(4) Other Creeds born in Virginia in 1740s & 1750s such as: (a) Elijah CREED who md Mary RUCKER and moved to Kentucky.
(b)Bennett CREED who md Mary ESTES and moved with the CREEDS and DAVIS' to Surry Co.,North Carolina.
(5) There are early South Carolina CREEDS who I believe are related to our early Virginia CREEDS.

Hope to hear from CREED researchers who may have additional early CREED data.
