MADISON — Eulala Law Goard, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Britthaven of Madison.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 19, at True Gospel Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Manuel officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Goard was born in Patrick County, Va., on April 2, 1918, to the late Witcher and Suzie Turner Law.
She was a retired supervisor from Washington Mills, Inc. and was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Sanders "Slim" Goard; brothers, Benton, John, and Frank "Bro" Law, and sisters, Christine Kartenos, Frances Mills, and Audrey Moss.
Survivors include her son, Carl Sanders Goard (Jane), of Mayodan; daughters, Colleen Duncan (Elliott "Cutton") and Carolyn (Pat) Frye, both of Madison; seven grandchildren, Kay Lemons, Deborah Bullins, Donna Richardson, Lanny Duncan, Jay Duncan, Tanya Joyce, and Charles S. Goard; 12 great-grandchildren, seven great-great- grandchildren; brother, Ralph Law (Audrey) of Staunton, Va., and sister, Bernice Martin, of Martinsville, Virginia.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Monday at the church and all other times at the home of Carl and Jane Goard, 502 N. 5th Avenue, Mayodan.
Mrs. Goard's family would like to thank the staff at Britthaven for the care and kindness given to them and to their mother.
