The funeral for James Irvin Greenwood, 94, of Stuart, who died July 12, 2012, at his home, will be at 2 p.m. today at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The Revs. Billy Dixon and Mark Hackler will officiate. Burial will be in Patrick Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for two hours before the service today at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter, Kathy Light, in Stuart.
He was born in Patrick County on Nov. 10, 1917, to R.H. and Minnie Mabe Greenwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Cruise Greenwood; a great-grandson, Justin Holt; two brothers, Joe Greenwood and Sam C. “Cleve” Greenwood; and two sisters, Elsie Biggs and Pauline Stowe.
He served in the Army during World War II, and he retired from Stanley Furniture Co. He was a member of Critz Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Rakes, Kathy Light, Judy Holt and Patricia Jones, all of Stuart; one son, Henry Lee Greenwood of Claudville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
