Elvie Hooker Vipperman, age 86, of Patrick Springs, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at her home.
She was born in Patrick County on July 1, 1927 and was a daughter of the late John Millard Hooker and Mandy Lee Pack Hooker.
She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Vipperman; two brothers, Merritt and Millard Hooker; and four sisters, Josie Boyd, Ethel Marshall, Jenny Howell and Margie Hylton Peters.
She was the mother of Abiding Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a longtime member.
Surviving are nine children, Henry Vipperman of Bassett, Shirley Leath of Stuart, Glennie Clifton of Patrick Springs, Jimmy Vipperman of Patrick Springs, James Vipperman of Critz, Bonnie Reynolds of Walkertown, N.C., Paul Vipperman of Patrick Springs, Mary Quesenberry of Spencer, and Amos Vipperman of Patrick Springs; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren, step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Abiding Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor J.R. Vipperman, Stacy Vipperman and the Rev. Michael Leath officiating. Burial will follow in the Hooker family cemetery in Vesta.
