Jacquelyn, I was going over some pictures I have and found a picture of your grandfather,Robert CORRON ,when he was about 15 . It has his 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Glayds, Marry E. (Ella} and Hubert and a brother that is listed as Connor. My grandmother wrote the names on the back of the photo so I believe that is what they were called. His given name was Daughno T. CORRON ,but he went by Connor. Any clues ?

Thanks,
Sheilah1956

I have a gr-4 grandmother in Rockingham County on the 1880 census, listed as age 80. She is living in the home of her son, James William (or William James) and died in his home in 1882. Sources have inferred that she may have been orignally from Rappahannock Co. The 1880 census and the newspaper reporting her death are the only links I have found to her. Her son, William James was born in 1830. Any ideas appericated.

Dan and I have been cooresponding since the 2000 but I'm now retired and started this winter project.
Pictures? I'll also share pictures.

Looking for two specific questions...
1. Why did Thomas Smith III and wife Mildred "Milly" Lillard go to Kentucky around 1817 +/-; and while in Kentucky the children John W. Bull Smith and Fielding Smith were born.

2. John W. Bull Smith had a son Benjamin Harrison Smith b. March 23, 1873 --- was he a school teacher somewhere around 1916 ?-- oral history from my Grandmother Velma Lee Smith Jenkins (my paternal grandmother and wife of my grandfather Aubrey William Jenkins) she could remember riding the horse behind him as he was on his way to teach school and that he made about $30/monthly.

Julie, my Kenney line has always appeared to spell the name as "Kenney". My William Kenney's middle initial was "F", probably for "Franklin". I know nothing about William F. Kenney prior to the b-record of his son James F. Kenney b 10-1853 in Harrison Co., VA/WV. William Kenney's wife was Mary Jane ? (unknown surname), b circa 1830 in VA. I have been unable to locate where William & Mary Jane married. William F. Kenney d 12-11-1901 Harrison Co., WV. Here are the names of William's children: James Franklin; John William; Augustus H.; Jesse Thaddaeus; Thomas J.; Elizabeth Ann; Mary Catherine; Emiretta F.; Robert J. All the children of William's that married, did so in Harrison Co., WV. The names of the children are very similar to the given names of Sylvanus Kenney's line.
Am seeking info on person listed as William McKenney, age 28 (b circa 1822); b VA; laborer on farm of Benoni/Bensni Griffin on the 1850 Rappahannock Co., VA Census. He is probably the son of Eliza McKenny age 50 also listed on the 1850 Rappahannock Co., VA Census. I am trying to ascertain if this is the William Kenney/Kenny who migrated to Harrrison Co., VA/WV after the 1850 census & prior to 1854. The William Kenny/Kenney that I am seeking lived in Harrison Co., VA/WV near Sylvanus Kenny/Kenney previously of Rappahannock & Fauquier Counties VA. Any help greatly appreciated. I have to locate them but I do have pictures of Silas Booten and Lela W. Would be interested in sharing info on our family.
PARTLOW, ELISHA and MENEFEE, FRANCES

Hello,
I am seeking some sort of confirmation that Elisha Partlow and Frances Menefee Partlow were the parents of Sarah Menefee Partlow - who later married John B. Gore. I have had luck with census records that list the Gores living near the Partlows, but it's not enough. What I really need is something like a Bible Record, a Baptismal Record, or something along those lines. Sadly, Elisha died intestate, so there is no will naming his children. I have found some property transfers, but again - no direct mention of daughter, Sarah.
Will share if I have anything you need. :) Thank you!
Flora Rudacille Woratschek

That also leads me to a deadend. I can't imagine why we can find no further information regarding persons that are so recent in history.
Nancy,
You raise an interesting possibility... could there have been 2 Richard H. Rush(s) from the Culpeper-Madison area, one born ~1829 and another born 1832-33?
The tombstone in Warrenton Va next to Sallie has his birth date as 1829. That is the Rush line I've been following. But why does the 27, 37, 47, and 77 ages keep showing up on the Censuses?
Also just a little odd (most likely a typo) Sallie's Obit on 24 Sept 1921 in The Fauquier Democrat says she is "widow of the late Mr R.A. Rush" died at her home on Thursday Sept 22...at age 88". I'm sure the "A." should be a "H.".
WRT to the Pension application, I believe the Col. is Charles L. Crittenden. I can only surmise one of Richard and Sallie's son Charles Crittenden Rush (1857-1897) was named after his Civil War Leader. This Charles C Rush is my Great-Grandfather.
I'm still digging.
Thanks for your info..Rick

Hi. I think we may have some people in common. My great grandmother was Dolly B(Blanche) Atkins. You have her as Dolly R. She was born in Rappahannock, Va in 1871. Everywhere I look it says her father was French L. Atkins but they have him being married to Sarah Bulstrode, who I cannot find any info on.It even states this in her obituary. She married William A. Conklin of McLean County, Illinois. I am searching for her ancestors. I have a civil war record on French Atkins, if he is French L. Atkins.

Hi. I have a copy of a French L. Atkins, from Rappahannock County, Va., civil war muster roll dated July 18-28, 1861. I thought it was my family but not sure now. Please see attached file.

This is an old thread, but hope you can give me some info. I emailed you also, but you could have a new email by now...
My grandfather was William Harry Thornton (b. 1872), son of William Henry, son of Stuart Gibbons Thornton. My mother's maiden name was Mary Carter Thornton. I had no idea of my family history, until I came across an old letter from my grandmother, after my mother passed away. Thanks, Lynne

I'm thinking that maybe your Catherine was related to Wade's mother, Katherine Thompson. Still trying to connect. I haven't much luck with gathering info on Katherine before she married Lewis Pendleton. When I come across anything new I'll let you know.

Monica

Hi,

My family are from Lancashire. I think I've managed to trace a branch (James Snape) who left for Salt Lake City in 1871.

However, Snapes are quite common in Lancashire :)

Regards,
James.

I have the same. Elizabeth is my ggrandmother. I know for sure her mother was Mary Ann "Polly" Burke, but the father is a mystery. Would there be a birth certificate for her that far back?
