Just browsing and found you--5 years later. I am trying to find in particular information on a lawsuit between Samuel Wilson McCormick and his father Henry McCormick in about 1865. It must have been a doozy. Samuel Wilson and his brother William Henry both relocated in Texas by 1880. Other surnames. His mother, wife of Henry was Jane Willson, daugther of Samuel Willson and Mary Mackey. All of these folks are in Rodkbridge cty.

a GILES person, perhaps given name Willliam is supposedly one of Reverend (?) Rose's settlers who came to VA with Scotch-Irish settlers. Do you have any info where more can be found about those groups? John T. Giles, born about 1800 in Mecklenburg county is descendent of these settlers, we think. Thanks
His descendents in Rockbridge County included Robert and wife Hannah, he died 1926, she about 1920, and about nine children of theirs also in or around Buena Vista.

I believe this may be your Jacob Walter. In the census, close by, was Jacob Walter and Jacob Derr.

Chancery Court Abstracts - Frederick Co, Maryland

#1113 - 1796 - George WINTZ - Estate

Petition of John CRONICE and William MILLER -

George WINTZ died about 1791 - leaving children -
...George WINTZ
...Thomas WINTZ
...Jacob WINTZ
...Konnot w/o George MON
...Catharine w/o Jacob Derr
...Mary w/o Jacob WALTER

Catharine WINTZ named administrator (wife?) and all the children have moved to the “back parts” of Virginia.
Land - Lot 8 near Frederick Town, 8+ acres, part of that real estate confiscated from Daniel DULANEY of Daniel and purchased by WINTZ Oct 1781; bond held for property by the petitioners for 250 pounds gold or silver which was not paid off upon Wintz‘ death.
Tobacco was owed to Adam CREAGER in 1791 and monies to Henry LEATHERMAN. Joshua DORSEY was named trustee. Testimony confirming Wintz’ descendants was heard from Jacob HEINER Sr of Frederick Town. Monies were due to Conrad DOLL for a coffin.
