Ruth L. Fields
HONAKER -- Mrs. Ruth L. Fields, 76, of the Drill community died Sunday, March 21, 1999, in an Abingdon, Va., hospital.
She was a native of Richwood, W.Va., and had lived in Drill since 1944.
She was formerly employed as a cook at Honaker Elementary School and was a member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Elder Otis Fields; six daughters, Patricia Hurt of Honaker, Lottie Randolph of Abingdon, Barbara Sue Adams of Hillsville, Va., Evelyn Marie Nygaard of Wytheville, Hazel Goad of Roanoke, and Virginia Ruth Austin of St. Paul; three sons, Otis John Fields, Ronald James Fields and Robert Charles Fields, all of Drill; 13 grandchildren; 13 great--grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Honaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruth L. Fields, 76, of the Drill community of Honaker, died March 21 in an Abingdon hospital.
Born in Richwood, WV, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Maude Bond.
She had resided in Drill since 1944 and was formerly employed as a cook at Honaker Elementary School. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church.
In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors: husband of 57 years, Elder Otis Fields; daughters, Patricia Hurt of Honaker, Lottie Randolph of Abingdon, Barbara Sue Adams of Hillsville, Evelyn Marie Nygaard of Wytheville, Hazel Goad of Roanoke, Virginia Ruth Austin of St. Paul; sons, Otis John Fields, Ronald James Fields and Robert Charles Fields, all of Drill; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted March 24 at 1 p.m. in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel in Honaker with Elder Danny Smith, Elder F. O. Sanders, Elder George Ben Combs and Elder Delford Ward officiating.
Interment followed in the White Rose Cemetery near the home.
