Donita,

I am also a relative of Walter Scott and Hunter Scott and have information about the family. My paternal grandparents were Maude and Emmett Scott who are also buried in Poplar Springs. Hunter Scott developed Hunterdale, the neighborhood in Franklin, and was responsible for many development projects. The Scotts came over originally from Scotland, not Ireland, and were a border clan in Scotland near the border between England and Scotland. There is a very active Clan Scott society here in the U.S. with links to our Scottish ancestry. I heard from my dad's first cousin, Andrew Scott (descendent of Hunter) that the African American Scotts descended from Walter were linked with Pleasant Shade Baptist Church although I cannot see a cemetary there. I would also like to connect with this side of our family. I cannot reply directly to your thread unless I join Ancestry.com but wanted to post this in hopes that you are still searching.
