If you are still on here..I am not sure where my Gory Waugh connects but I also think he is John Waugh in the 1870 Mason co., WV that Nancy is living with...I know he lived in Mason co in 1860's and 70's then he disappears..along with Nancy "Shields" They may have gone back to Gallia Co., OH..

We had some intermarriage with some Sullivans, and would be glad to share that with you if you don't have it already. Am sure we are related through these marriages. In fact, my Uncle Myron (Marion) Armstrong married Grace Sullivan of Fredericksburg and had quite a large family which they raised in Detroit, Mich. I am now looking up information on the Humphries and that connection with my family on the Shelton, et al, lines.

Hi Arthur! I'm new at this family search and I realize it has been a long time since you posted. Joseph Jones was my great, great grandfather, my great grandfather was James Jones and his son was my granddaddy. I don't know much about the family history, but my part of the family is from Stafford, Va. You can email me at janetbeard@gmail.com. There are not that many relatives in my line that are still living, but I have two cousins who were raised by my great grandma that are still living. Look forward to hearing from you.
Jeri,

I'm currently working on my Limbrick line right now. According to the Kemper Family Gen. Site - the father of Landon Limbrick was John Limbrick and his mother is Lucy Mahorney. They moved to Alabama. It is a very good site. As you know the Limbrick's and Boutyard/Boutchyard's were close cousins. Landon's son Landon lived with his great Aunt Rachel Limbrick. She left her land to him when she died. She also sold land to John/Jon Bouchard/Boutchyard/Butcher, who was also her great nephew. Rachel's sister Ankey/Sukey Limbrick Boutchyard was her sister.

Now Ankey/Sukey's son John Bouchard the father of the above John was married to Sarah Mahorney. Trying to figure out if Lucy and Sarah are sisters. They all lived next to each other from 1850-1880. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitite. Thanks, Carolyn

This is from a newspaper article. (also look in the history of vigo county indiana)
John Dawson, of Terre Haute, Indiana recently celebrated his one hundred and first birthday, and on that eventful occasion he was called upon by a large member of his friends, who offered their congratulations. Mr. Dawson was born in Stafford County, Virginia Nov. 15, 1789, eight years after New York was evacuated by the British.

Young Dawson was 10 years old when George Washington died and the universal sorrow reached his modest rural home in Virginia. A number of Washington's relatives also lived in Stafford County, Virgnia and John Dawson was personally acquainted with them. His father was a farmer and owned a farm about ten miles from Dumfries on the Potomac River. When John was about 17 years of age, during the fall of 1806 his parents decided to remove to Kentucky. This trip of about seven hundred miles was no slight undertaking in those hazardous days, and it formed one of the leading events in Mr. Dawson's life. The trip consumed fifty days. The Dawson family settled in Nelson County, Kentucky, where at the age of 20, John was married to Miss Sarah Robinson, who only lived a few years after the marriage, leaving two children.

In the fall of the same year, 1812, the second war with England broke out, and John joined the Seventeenth Kentucky Volunteers, serving through that war under Gen. William Henry Harrison. He was in the campaign from Kentucky to Canada. Returning from the war in 1815, John went to work at his trade, that of coopering, in Nelson county, Ky. A few years later he was married to Lucetta Bridewell and then moved to Indiana, settling in Lawrence county, in 1817, only two years after the Indians had evacuated that part of the State, then in its infancy. At this period he fitted himself for the position of a school-teacher. John Dawson was of a migratory turn of mind, and in the next forty years he taught school in perhaps a half dozen different counties in the State. a large number of men who later come into prominence in commercial and political circles receiving from John Dawson their rudimentry education.
Mr. Dawson has lived in Terre Haute for thirteen years. As near as can be extimated he has thirty grandchildren, sixty-four great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. His eldest son is 66 years old.
I am seeking information on my great-grandmother and her sister my great-great-aunt. Great-grandmother: maiden name - Alverta J. Skidmore; she was born in Stafford County VA. Her birth date was 27 February either (1851 - census data) or (1853 - legal deposition given in 1892) or (1855 or 56 - death certificate). Her death certificate lists her father's name as William and mother 'unknown', although her parents may have been Harrison and Jane Skidmore. By 1870, Alverta was working as a domestic in Georgetown. In 1874 Alverta, along with Pryor A. (her sister) and Patrick H. Skidmore all lived at 118 High Street in the District of Columbia. In 1875, Alverta married Henry Grine and moved to Maryland. Great-great-aunt: Pryor Ann Skidmore she was born 15 March 1858 in Stafford County, her parents are Harrison J. and Jane Skidmore according to the Stafford County Register of Births 1853-1877. On her death certificate both parents are listed as 'unknown.' These two sisters were of the Episcopal faith. I am looking for any additional information on these two individuals. Alverta's name is frequently spelled as 'Alberta.' Any additional information/guidance would be appreciated.

St. Paul's Parish Registers - where are they?

Does anyone know where the St. Paul's registers are? I've seen Nicklin's transcriptions but some of the entries I'm interested in seem a little dubious, and I'd like to check them against the originals. Do they still exist or are there images of them anywhere? I've heard conflicting tales about whether they're in private hands and what the present condition is.

Mr.King, I just read your post about Marthe Fristoe and Joshua King. I descend from this union thru the King line.
Do you have documentation about their children? I know the names of their children and who they married. I can't find a document that list Martha and Joshua as the parents. I would appreciate corresponding with you.
Sincerely
Winnie Case

I found reference to a Benjamin Horton Jr. who was born abt. 1773 in Fauquier Co., Virginia, and died 1825 in Stafford Co., Virginia. (Found a family tree with his wife listed as "Cecelia", not Mary :( )

He was the son of Benjamin Horton Sr. (born 26 Aug 1750 in Stafford Co., Virginia, and died Abt. 1783) and Elizabeth Kearnes (born Abt. 1750 in Fauquier Co., Virginia, and died Dec 1819)

The time is right for them to be the parents of Mary Horton b. abt 1802

I'm trying to find more information about them to confirm.

This information is from the rootsweb family tree at:
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/...

Trying to find the will of William Kernes. Found note that it mentions his daughter as Elizabeth Stadler, the wife of Jacob Stadler. But it also mentions his grandson, Benjamin Horton (Jr.). I can assume from this notation that Elizabeth Kernes married Jacob Stadler after the death of her first husband, Benjamin Horton Sr. in 1783.

I haven't had much luck with my ancestors in Stafford Co. I'm looking for a L.A. Carney b. 1864, daughter of H.C. and C. Carney who married Luther Pearson of Prince William Co. in Dec. 1883. I beieve I found her in the 1880 census as Lillie A. Carney daughter of Jane C. Carney who was widowed by June 1880. I have no information about her father other than his initials that I got from Luther & L.A.'s marriage record. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I talked to someone at the Prince William Co. Library who confirmed this information for me.

I am looking for a Benjamin Horton who married a Mary. I don't have her last name. They lived in Stafford County. They were married before 1802 when their daughter Mary Horton was born. She married Thomas Mountjoy. I find a marriage record for a Benjamin Horton in 1825 but that must be their son. Any help you could give would be very appreciated. I am sure they are probably buried there somewhere.

Don't bother with the courthouse for death records. They only go to 1896. You may find a will for Daniel, if he had an estate.

Your best bet is an obituary - all the Fredericksburg newspapers for that time period are all indexed so would be easy to find, if it was published. The library in Fredericksburg is the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, Virginiana Research Room for the genealogy collection. All the indexes and microfilms of all the newspapers going back to the 18th century up to present day are housed there.
