would anyone know who was eligible for a land patnt or land grant in Virginia in the 1700's? It seems that some men in a family received a land patent but others did not. Itg seems that since it was free land every man would have applied. Also, the acreage some men received differed. How was the acreage determined? Thanks, Ross
