I realize this is an old thread, but, for what it's worth....... My gr-uncle Theophilus A. Barham married twice, his first marriage being to Mary Elizabeth Sykes, d/o Solon W. and Lelia Cocks Sykes. In the 1900 Census for Sussex, Henry District, widow Lelia and children live adjacent to Virginia Ann Barham (1833-1908), grandmother to Theo A Barham. My grandmother Myrah Barham Farrell, eldest sibling to Theo A, was very close to Elizabeth Sykes. Myrah's first child, Roy Ben Farrell, and Elizabeth Sykes Barham's first, Theo A Jr., were born a month apart in 1919. Mary Elizabeth Sykes Barham died in April 1930, and is buried at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. Theo A Barham remained widowed for a number of years, eventually remarrying to Ann Etheridge of Norfolk.
My mother, Frances Farrell Fletcher (1923-2007), had brief but fond memories of "Aunt Elizabeth" as she remembered her (Mom was only 7 when Mary Elizabeth died). Uncle Theo was for many years in the car retail business, and later worked as a general contractor in Norfolk. Parents of Theo A Barham and Myrah Barham Farrell were George Prince Barham (d. 1910) and Fannnie Williams Grizzard Barham (d. 1902), who lived variously in both Sussex and Greensville Counties
